UNDAUNTED
For a few very hard years this word was my mantra.
The word means
-undismayed; not discouraged; not forced to abandon purpose or effort
-undiminished in courage or valor; not giving way to fear
But the truth is, I was often dismayed by everything that had taken place, and I did battle discouragement. I battled fear and doubts. I hurt and was angry, and sometimes "undaunted" sounded more like a mockery than a mantra, and I was determined to be real about all of it in these posts, thus the name, Undaunted Reality. More than that, though, I was determined to live undaunted, not because I'm so great or strong, but because my God is, and no matter what this world looks like, He is the only reality that matters.
I pray I live the reality of Him beautifully undaunted.

Loving the Morning Clouds

I woke up early this morning and decided to watch the sunrise.

I made some coffee and headed to the deck where I hang with God in the mornings, turned my chair to the east, and waited.

But there was no peeking light coming over the houses and trees, and the sky never filled with morning colors. I waited....

Finally, I realized the usually bright colored clear sky was puffy and grey and filled with clouds, and I smiled.

One day those clouds are going to drop rain. I don't know if it is today. I'd love for it to be, but even if it isn't, I know one day those wonderful puffy grey clouds are going to be fat with rain and let it all down at my house.

They are going to pour out a slow, soaking rain of saturating proportions. It is going to last a few days at least, maybe more than a week. And the drop are going to fall, and it is going to smell good and feel good and be good.

I am still smiling writing this. I love the sunrise. I love the colors and the light slipping into the darkness. This morning, though, I am really loving clouds.

  1. I love the rain. The smell of it. The feel of it. The sound of it. I love to be standing in it or watching it from afar. I love when it is a lullaby for sleep as I lay my head upon my pillow at night. Most of all, I love how it reminds me of being washed clean, being new again, of tears from heaven and God crying with me and for me and beside me.

This morning as I sat with Him reading the Bible, this is what was part of what He wanted to make sure I heard loud and clear, "May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed." Psalm 20:4 Yep. I get it! I love a sense of humor :)

  2. Hi Jerri - its so nice to start the day like that. Kind of sets the mood for the day. I don't get much chance to do that but every now and then on a sunday morning I make a cup of tea and go watch the sunrise. Good to hear the peace coming through your post.
    God bless

  4. MizzBrizz, is it inappropriate that I laughed out loud? Four times in two days He told me that. FOUR TIMES IN TWO DAYS! Think He's saying, "Really, Jerri, just jump of the side of the mountain and fly 'cause, baby, I so have you!" I'm so glad I'm on this journey with you!!!

Tracey, yes, it does set the mood. I love when He does that. The Lord and I have been meeting on my deck in the morning for years. Last year was the exception. Last year I didn't feel like I could meet Him anywhere, but He met me everywhere. He is stunning that way.

Amelia, yay! Can you feel the fall breeze yet? Do you smell it? One morning I was outside, and the breeze was that perfect fall breeze that said it wasn't long. Later that morning we were outside, and Robert took a deep breath in and said, "I know it's hot out here, bu I can smell fall coming." So could I. SO exciting!!!
